Jordan Larsson has not been convincing at Schalke so far. After only half a year, the Swede will leave Gelsenkirchen again.
Shortly before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday, another Schalke 04 departure is on the horizon. Jordan Larsson is on the verge of a transfer to FC Copenhagen. According to the Danish tabloid BT, the 25-year-old offensive player will be loaned out until the end of the season – with a subsequent purchase option for the summer. Only the last details are still to be clarified, according to reports from Denmark. According to WAZ information, Schalke and FC Copenhagen are already in contact.
Jordan Larsson only moved from Spartak Moscow to Gelsenkirchen in the summer – but could not convince Schalke 04 at all. He was unable to bring his qualities to the field, neither on the wing nor in the ten-man position. In the current Bundesliga season, he has played eleven times for the Royal Blues. He has not scored a goal.
Thomas Reis suspects that the 25-year-old Swede has a “blockage in his head”, because although Larsson undoubtedly has quality, he is currently unable to call on it. Larsson’s tackling behaviour in particular has not been to the liking of the Schalke coach of late – which is probably one of the reasons why Reis substituted the attacking player for Dominick Drexler in the game against RB Leipzig (1:6) at the break.
Because Larsson was unable to come close to fulfilling the high expectations at Schalke, the Bundesliga last-place team should not put any obstacles in his way, provided a club can present a suitable offer. For Larsson’s regular position on the right wing, Schalke signed Tim Skarke (26, on loan from Union Berlin) at the beginning of the week. The new man will probably be able to make his debut for Schalke as early as this Sunday’s match against 1. FC Köln (3.30 pm/Sky).
