On the second day of the Judo Grand Slam in Tashkent, the Yunusobod Sport Arena was buzzing once again. At the beginning, the spectators were treated to traditional Uzbek folklore. Before the competitions were officially opened by IJF President Marius Vizer.
After being crowned world champion in Tashkent in 2022, Japan’s Megumi Horikawa once again advanced to the final up to 63 kg. There she met the Mexican Prisca Awiti Alcaraz. Horikawa secured the gold with a great Uchimata.

Expectations were high when local hero Murodjon Yuldoshev reached the final in the 73 kg category. A well-timed counter-attack brought thunderous applause from the stands.
“It is my first Grand Slam gold,” declared the Uzbek. “The local fans were here to cheer us on, which helped me win the medal. “

In the final in the 81 kg category, Attila Ungvari of Hungary defeated Olympic bronze medallist Shamil Borchashvili to claim his second Grand Slam gold.
In the final up to 70 kg the reigning World Champion Barbara Matic from Croatia met Michaela Polleres – the Austrian finally took gold with a Wazaari.
