Dennis Borkowski has just returned, and now comes the next piece of bad news. He will once again be missing from MSV Duisburg.
It remains a disastrous season for Dennis Borkowski of MSV Duisburg. The 24-year-old left winger has just recovered from tendon irritation. He celebrated his comeback to the starting lineup against SC Verl on Sunday, February 8. He contributed a goal to the 4-2 victory, but was only able to play the first half. Borkowski has been injured again, without any outside influence.
The offensive player’s calf, of all places, started giving him problems again—the very spot that had already sidelined him for months. Tendon irritation caused him to miss 117 days and 18 games.
“It’s absolutely tragic. It’s extremely painful to see,“ said captain Alexander Hahn during the half-time break on ”Magenta Sport.“ ”He has incredible quality, which he showed once again. I don’t know what it is – I hope it’s just a few days’ break. He works incredibly hard and always comes back with passion. He absolutely deserved that goal. I wish him all the best.”

It is now clear that Borkowski will be out of action for MSV Duisburg for some time. He suffered a muscle injury involving a tendon during the home win against SC Verl. When the 24-year-old will return to training depends on how he heals.
It was the only downside to an otherwise successful Sunday evening for MSV Duisburg. “The 3rd league is intense and characterized by a lot of tackles. We handled that well,” Hahn praised after the game. With 43 points, the Zebras climbed back to second place and are now two points ahead of SC Verl, who currently occupy the first non-promotion spot. They are now only two points away from their stated goal of staying in the league.
“With 45 points, you’re almost certain to stay in the 3rd division. But we want to win every game and we’re not afraid of anything,” the veteran made clear. On Saturday in Wiesbaden, the defender will return to the center of the park.
