KFC Uerdingen have recovered impressively after a brief period of weakness. The Krefeld team is in a really good mood and the “new” coaching team is also recommended for the longer term.
After the 1:4 embarrassing defeat against SC St. Tönis on March 24, the mood in the Grotenburg was tenser than it had been for a long time. Two days later, head coach Marcus John had to pack his bags. Then player-coach Levan Kenia took over with Johannes Dahms at the Krefeld club – and the statistics have been impressive ever since.
Despite the defeat against SC Union Nettetal, the new coaching team has won three out of four games. The elimination from the Lower Rhine Cup against Rot-Weiss Essen may be disregarded, but even then KFC has already shown improvement. The question may be asked: Is the Kenya/Dahms duo a long-term solution on the coaching bench?
At least with Kenya, things are apparently already getting concrete: “I’m in negotiations with KFC. We’ll have to see how we can work it out and what’s best for the club and for me in the end. I think there will be more clarity in the next week or two. “
Of course, I would enjoy continuing to work with Kenya. But I’m not quite ready with my head yet. The focus is on the season and that we present ourselves well as a team.
Johannes Dahms
Johannes Dahms would complete the coaching puzzle. The 35-year-old was appointed to the senior coaching team by the U19 coach during the course of the current season. The young players, who could make the step up to the Oberliga team in the future, would therefore see a familiar face again. That would be a plus for a possible further commitment.
However, Essen-born Dahms is not thinking that far ahead just yet: “Sure, I would enjoy continuing to work with Kenya. But I’m not quite ready for that yet. The focus is on the season and that we present ourselves well as a team. That’s why I haven’t given much thought to my future yet.”
So for now, the focus is on everyday league life. KFC can expect a real challenge after Easter. Uerdingen will host league leaders Sportfreunde Baumberg
