KFC continue to ride the wave of success, bottom team shows signs of life

KFC Uerdingen are rushing from victory to victory in the Oberliga Niederrhein. Meanwhile, a promoted team was crushed in a basement duel.

In Sunday’s matches in the Oberliga Niederrhein, the pursuers of leaders Sportfreunde Baumberg have claimed victories.

The league leaders, who had already pulled away from the pack, had already taken the lead on Friday against Union Nettetal (3:0). Ratingen 04/19 followed suit two days later and maintained their five-point lead. Germania won 4:1 against Sportfreunde Hamborn.

Yassin Merzagua (8th, 75th), Georgios Touloupis (10th) and Erkan Ari (64th) scored the goals. Kevin Menke made it 2:1 for Hamborn in the meantime (64′).

Lurking four points behind Ratingen is KFC Uerdingen. The 2-1 win against Spvg Schonnebeck was the Krefeld side’s sixth win in a row. The highlights of the match all took place in the first 20 minutes

The double strike from Gianluca Rizzo (6′) and Dimitrios Touratzidis (13′) put KFC in a comfortable position early on. This was lost again after Calvin Küper (19) scored the equalizer. But KFC saved the 2:1 over time. Schonnebeck lost sight of the top flight after their second defeat in a row.

SV Straelen took advantage of this and passed the Spielvereinigung. Markus Müller (22′), Tom Hirsch (32′) and Takumi Yanagisawa (40′) fired SVS to a 3-1 win at TSV Meerbusch, who remain in the relegation zone. The same applies to Mülheimer FC. The newly promoted team welcomed SC St. Tönis, who were in an even worse position before kick-off – and went down in the basement duel. 0:5 was the final score. Johann Noukumo (9′), Julian Suaterna (60′, 68′, 82′) and Morten Heffungs (72′) scored for St. Tönis.

Adler Union Frintrop secured a late point in their home match against 1. FC Kleve – Nils Reiners equalized the deficit caused by Hasan Akcakaya (38.) in the 80th minute to make the final score 1:1. This keeps the Essen side above the line
