KFC continues on the wave of success, bottom-dweller sends sign of life

KFC Uerdingen is racing from victory to victory in the Oberliga Niederrhein. Meanwhile, a promoted team was demolished in the basement duel.

In the Sunday games of the Oberliga Niederrhein, the pursuers of leaders Sportfreunde Baumberg have won.

The already escaped league leaders had already played against Union Nettetal on Friday (3-0). Two days later, Ratingen 04/19 followed suit, maintaining a five-point gap. Germania won 4-1 against Sportfreunde Hamborn.

Yassin Merzagua (8th, 75th), Georgios Touloupis (10th) and Erkan Ari (64th) scored the goals. Kevin Menke put Hamborn 2-1 in front (64th).

KFC Uerdingen are lurking four points behind Ratingen. The 2-1 win against Spvg Schonnebeck was already the sixth victory in a row for the team from Krefeld. The highlights of the game all happened in the first 20 minutes.

Gianluca Rizzo’s (6th) and Dimitrios Touratzidis’ (13th) double strike put KFC in a comfortable position early on. That was gone after Calvin Küper’s (19th) goal, but KFC held on to the 2-1 lead. Schonnebeck lost sight of the top flight after their second bankruptcy in a row.

SV Straelen took advantage of this by overtaking the team in second place. Markus Müller (22′), Tom Hirsch (32′) and Takumi Yanagisawa (40′) shot SVS to a 3-1 win at TSV Meerbusch, who remain in the relegation zone. The same applies to Mülheim FC. The newly promoted team received SC St. Tönis, which was even worse positioned before the kick-off – and went down in the cellar duel. 0:5 was the final score. Johann Noukumo (9th), Julian Suaterna (60th, 68th, 82nd), Morten Heffungs (72nd) scored for St. Tönis.

Adler Union Frintrop secured a late point in the home game against 1. FC Kleve – Nils Reiners equalized the deficit caused by Hasan Akcakaya (38th minute) in the 80th minute to make the final score 1:1. This means that the team from Essen stays above the line.
