Alemannia Aachen lost their opening match of the Regionalliga West at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen with 2:1 (2:0). Aachen coach Fuat Kilic was not happy with two situations.
To kick off the new season in the Regionalliga West, the Alemannia Aachen team, led by head coach Fuat Kilic, travelled to the Niederrhein stadium to face Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. In the end, the first match of the new season was won 2:1 (2:0) by the hosts from RWO.
Against Oberhausen, Alemannia was already trailing 0:2 in half-time. Shortly after the break, however, Aachen equalised through newcomer Tim Korzuschek from the penalty spot (53rd). Striker Jannik Mause also made a good impression in the Aachen attack, but against RWO he was unlucky in front of goal.
Two Mause goals are not given
In the seventh minute of the game, Mause headed the ball into the opposing box from a free kick. However, the referee ruled the ball offside. In the 33rd minute, Mause again headed the ball dangerously towards goal. An Oberhausen player apparently saved the ball on the line at the last second and play continued. Head coach Kilic saw both situations differently than the referee.
Despite the opening defeat, Aachen head coach Fuat Kilic was satisfied with his team after the match and praised the committed performance of his troops. However, the 49-year-old was less satisfied with the questionable goalmouth scenes at the subsequent press conference.
We looked at the situations afterwards and it was clearly two regular goals.
Fuat Kilic on the disallowed goals by Jannik Mause
“Of course it’s very disappointing that we didn’t take anything home from Oberhausen and I have to at least congratulate my team on their performance. I think we played a very good game. Still, it’s a shame that we lost even though we scored three goals. We looked at the situation afterwards and it was clearly two goals,” said Kilic after the game.
As for the rest of the game, the Aachen coach explained: “We knew what was coming and that it would be a difficult game. Oberhausen has a robust team and they were very deep. Even after the 2:0, we wanted to play forward and create chances. We managed to do that. Except for the two goals we gave away, I can’t blame my team. We played a good game in front of a great crowd. “
