Klosterhardt’s compulsory task solved – Coach Jörn Nowak says

Regionalliga team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has reached the 2nd round of the Niederrheinpokal. This is how coach Jörn Nowak saw the performance in the Oberhausen derby at Arminia Klosterhardt (4:0).

Regional league football team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen mastered the first hurdle in the Lower Rhine Cup with ease. With a 4:0 (1:0) victory at Landesliga team Arminia Klosterhardt, the cloverleafs punched their ticket for the second round, which will be drawn on 31 August.

Coach Jörn Nowak had rotated against Arminia, coached by Marcel Landers, and only Moritz Montag and Marius Kleinsorge remained in the team from the starting eleven against Gütersloh. Dominik Burghard, Marius Kleinsorge and Manfredas Ruzgis scored the goals. The fourth competitive match win in a row for the Kleeblätter.

This is what RWO coach Jörn Nowak says about …

… the first half against Arminia:

“We solved the task with aplomb, we were well in the game from the start and dominated the game. Unfortunately, after the 1:0 we missed the chance to make things clear early on. In the first half, we had really good opportunities where we ran 5-against-2, had a crossbar header, put a free header next to the goal or shot at the goalkeeper. On top of that, there were two disputed penalty situations, so definitely the opportunity to make things clear in the first half.”

… the improvement in the second half:

“In the second half we rewarded ourselves more for our efforts, continued to play purposefully towards the goal and allowed little. So, all in all, everything was fine.”

… the rotation in the short English week:

“I’m happy with the fact that we were able to save one or two players for Friday. The next task is just around the corner in three days. So it’s important to regenerate well and then prepare for Fortuna Düsseldorf II.”

… the upcoming opponent Fortuna Düsseldorf II:

“Basically, I don’t think they’re in good shape right now, but you never know with an U23 team in which constellation we’ll meet them and which players might come from above. We’ll have to wait and see. We clearly want to continue our run on Friday and get the next three points. “
