Knappmann praises Spvgg. coach and talks about Klopp and Co.

On Friday, 22 September, the top match in the Oberliga Westfalen will take place from 7.30 pm: TuS Bövinghausen against Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick. We spoke to the TuS coach.

Second against fourth, both teams have 13 points on their account, just like the leading quartet: When TuS Bövinghausen will meet promoted Spielvereinigung Erkenschwick on Friday evening (22 September, 7.30 p.m., Forecasting-Liveticker), all those interested in the Oberliga Westfalen will be looking in the direction of Dortmund’s Provinzialstraße.

Even TuS coach Christian Knappmann can hardly wait for the top match.

Christian Knappmann, second against fourth: What kind of duel do you expect at Provinzialstraße on Friday evening?

I expect two top teams who both want to win at all costs. It will certainly be very emotional during the 90 minutes.

Will you have all your men available?

We have changed our periodisation since the beginning of the season and have absolutely no injury problems. I can draw from the full range.

What will decide victory or defeat between Bövinghausen and Erkenschwick in the end?

It has to be our claim that we decide how the games end. My job will be to prepare the boys as well as possible. The boys’ task will be to put everything into practice. If we can do that, it will be our next victory. If we are sloppy, Erkenschwick has the quality to hurt us.

You always emphasise how much you appreciate Erkenschwick’s coach Magnus Niemöller. What do you actually appreciate him so much for?

First of all, Magnus has a lot of expertise. In addition, he is incredibly good rhetorically. He simply understands that his teams follow him. Not for nothing has he been able to celebrate many successes. For me, he is an absolute top coach.

I don’t think we’ve ever asked you this: do you actually have a coaching role model – if so, why this coach?

I don’t have one coach that I see as a role model. I like coaches who inspire me to think about the game in depth. Thomas Tuchel has exciting approaches. Jürgen Klopp is mentally magical. Pep Guardiola is a visionary. There are so many great coaches whose style I like to deal with.

1000 spectators should attend this match, right?

1000 spectators would be a worthy setting that both teams deserve. I hope there will actually be that many spectators.
