Kroos brothers announce next nomination for Euro 2024

The nomination show continues. Early Wednesday morning, the Kroos brothers chat about a European Championship participant in their podcast. It’s their good friend Robert Andrich.

The nomination marathon for the European Championship is becoming ever more curious. It was not national coach Julian Nagelsmann but his teammate Toni Kroos who gave Robert Andrich his tournament confirmation early on Wednesday morning. In the latest edition of their podcast “Einfach mal luppen”, the Kroos brothers Toni and Felix announced quite solemnly that the Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder will be playing for the national soccer team at a major tournament for the first time this summer.

“I’m delighted that we can do this here, especially with Rob. We’ve discussed our relationship with him, and I’m very pleased to be able to say officially that my good friend Robert Andrich, with whom I played for Union a few years ago, can be here,” said Felix Kroos.

Andrich made his debut for the national team under Nagelsmann in the fall. In March, the 29-year-old was chosen as Toni Kroos’ partner in defensive midfield after his DFB comeback. According to reports, Kroos had also made a strong case for this. Andrich is considered to be an uncompromising clearer with leadership qualities. His promotion to the DFB squad also meant that Leon Goretzka, who was not nominated, lost some of his standing.

As usual, the Kroos brothers were quite flippant about the nomination. Toni Kroos, for example, expressed concern that he might not be at the European Championships after all. “Maybe I’ll put forward the guy who took my place at the end. It’s going to be round at the end,” joked Kroos, who will certainly be at the European Championship and had practically already given himself a ticket to the European Championship when he announced his return to the DFB in February.

With the nomination of Andrich, eleven of Nagelsmann’s European Championship players have been confirmed. Further nominations are expected in the course of Wednesday. Nagelsmann will announce the final squad, which will probably initially comprise 26 or 27 players, on Thursday (13:00) in Berlin.
