Arminia Bielefeld move up to second place thanks to a clear away win over Dynamo Dresden on matchday 11. Alemannia Aachen celebrate their next victory.
On Wednesday evening (October 23), the remaining five matches of the 11th third division match day were on the program. After a controversial sending off, Rot-Weiss Essen had to accept a 1:3 home defeat against SC Verl and thus slid to 16th place in the table.
On the other hand, newly promoted Alemannia Aachen leaped to eighth place thanks to a 3-1 win over SpVgg Unterhaching. The visitors got off to the better start, taking the lead after 15 minutes through Lenn Jastremski. Before half-time, the team of coach Heiner Backhaus equalized through Charlison Benschop.
The visitors from Bavaria came out more energetically after the break, but failed to retake the lead. Instead, Sasa Strujic (70′) and substitute Thilo Töpken (85′) decided the game in favor of the team from Munich. As a result, Haching remains in last place.
There was no winner in the duel between TSV 1860 Munich and bottom-of-the-league VfL Osnabrück. Patrick Hobsch’s 1860 opener (41′) was equalized by Joel Zwarts (43′) in no time at all. The second half followed a similar pattern: Maximilian Wolfram put Munich back in front (76′), only for Ba-Muaka Simakala to equalize from the penalty spot (79′). The 2-2 draw was the final score.
For the fourth time in a row, Dynamo Dresden remained winless. In the second division relegated team Wehen Wiesbaden, Dynamo lost 0:1 (0:1). The only goal of the game was scored by Fatih Kaya (21). To make matters worse, the team of coach Thomas Stamm finished the game with only ten players, because captain Stefan Kutschke was sent off the field after a rough foul (77).
The beneficiaries of Dresden’s defeat were Arminia Bielefeld, who won 4-1 (2-0) at the second team of Hannover 96. For Bielefeld, who moved past Dynamo with the three points and are now in second place, Julian Kania scored a hat-trick (2nd, 42nd, 82nd). Nick-Elias Meier scored the interim goal (64th), Merveille Biankadi scored the final goal shortly before the end (88th).
