Largest crowd in Rostock, RWE with third-highest number of away fans

The 3rd league is taking a short break after two match days. Time to take a look at the attendance figures for the first two match days. All 20 teams have now played one home and one away game. Here is an overview of the initial attendance figures. Last Sunday, Waldhof Mannheim was the guest team at the Ostseestadion in Rostock. A total of 25,800 spectators watched the match between Hansa Rostock and Waldhof, which ended 1-0 for the home team. No other match on the first two matchdays attracted more spectators. The home section of the Hanseatic club was sold out, with only a few seats remaining in the away section. Behind Hansa Rostock are Alemannia Aachen and MSV Duisburg. While Alemannia played in front of 21,272 spectators last Saturday in a 2-4 defeat against TSG Hoffenheim’s U23 team, 19,652 people flocked to the Schauinland-Reisen-Arena for MSV Duisburg’s 2-1 opening win against VfB Stuttgart’s second team.

At TSV 1860 Munich, VfL Osnabrück, Rot-Weiss Essen, and FC Erzgebirge Aue, as at Hansa Rostock, there were no seats left in the home section. The lowest attendance figures on the first and second match days were recorded at the matches between Hoffenheim II and TSV Havelse (1,010 spectators) and between Stuttgart II and FC Ingolstadt (950 spectators).

Away fan table: Essen in the top 3, Duisburg in mid-table

SSV Jahn Regensburg leads the away fan table after the first round of fixtures. 3,235 fans accompanied the second division relegation side to Bavaria last Saturday for their clash with Ingolstadt (1-1). In second place are the Munich Lions, who were supported by 2,700 traveling fans in their opening game against Rot-Weiss Essen and completely filled the guest section of the stadium on Hafenstraße. In their first away game of the season, 2,000 fans from Essen made the trip to the Eilenriedestadion in Hanover to see their team draw 1-1 against TSV Havelse. MSV Duisburg is eighth in the initial standings. 1,083 supporters backed the Meiderich team in their 4-0 win in Regensburg.

TSV Havelse is currently bottom of the away fan table, with only 35 fans making the trip to Hoffenheim II. Only slightly more fans, 60 to be precise, made the journey to Sinsheim for the away game against Alemannia Aachen.

A total of 222,531 spectators flocked to the stadiums of the 20 third division clubs on the first two weekends.
