After seven winter transfers, that’s it. Westfalia Dortmund has put together its squad for the upcoming Kreisliga A season.
The wild ride continues for B-Kreisliga club Westfalia Dortmund. The club, which was only founded in 2022, is already known for bringing in big-name players to the lower echelons of the Kreisliga.
And it’s paying off: Westfalia has yet to suffer a defeat in the league. In its first year, it went unbeaten in the Kreisliga B.
The club is also top of the table there. The record: 13 games, 13 wins. And yet there was a transfer offensive in the winter. The seven new players are presumably supposed to settle in and then go on the offensive in the Kreisliga A in the coming season. Now the last piece of the puzzle has been found. After signing Ricardo Seifried, Justin Neiss (both from TuS Bövinghausen), Steven Josifov (SpVgg Horsthausen), Darius Stawski, who trained with VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund, striker Alan Michna (most recently player-coach at FC Frohlinde in the district league) and 24-year-old Yunus Emre Cakir (75-time Oberliga player, who comes from TSG Sprockhövel), Westfalia has also signed Alessio Argenziano.
The defender is moving from Hombrucher SV (Westfalenliga II) to the team topping the Kreisliga B1 Dortmund. He previously played for Lüner SV, and was trained in the youth team at VfL Bochum.
The record of the two-time U16 international: 21 games in the U17 Bundesliga, six games in the U19 Bundesliga and eleven games in the Westfalenliga II.
Now the move to the B-Kreisliga. “Since the club was founded, we have been looking for a left-footed player with top athleticism for our back three. When a player like that comes along, you have to act immediately. We are pleased to have signed Alessio shortly before the start of the second half of the season,” explains Westfalia coach Maurice Temme ahead of the second half of the season opener on Sunday (February 18, 3 p.m.) at Tamilstars Dortmund.
