After seven winter transfers, the search is over. Westfalia Dortmund has put together its squad for the upcoming Kreisliga A season.
The wild ride continues for B-league club Westfalia Dortmund. The club, which was only founded in 2022, is already known for bringing in high-caliber players to the lower reaches of the league.
And that pays off: so far, Westfalia has not yet suffered a defeat in the league. In its first year, it went unbeaten in the Kreisliga B.
There, too, the club is in first place. The record: 13 games, 13 wins. And yet there was a transfer offensive in the winter. Presumably, the seven new players should settle in and then go on the offensive in the Kreisliga A in the coming season. Now the last piece of the puzzle has been found. After signing Ricardo Seifried, Justin Neiss (both from TuS Bövinghausen), Steven Josifov (SpVgg Horsthausen), Darius Stawski, who trained with VfL Bochum and Borussia Dortmund, striker Alan Michna (most recently a player coach at FC Frohlinde in the district league) and the 24-year-old Yunus Emre Cakir (75-time Oberliga player, who comes from TSG Sprockhövel), Westfalia has also signed Alessio Argenziano.
The defender is moving from Hombrucher SV (Westfalenliga II) to the team topping the Kreisliga B1 Dortmund. He previously played for Lüner SV, and was trained in the youth team at VfL Bochum.
The record of the two-time U16 international: 21 appearances in the U17 Bundesliga, six appearances in the U19 Bundesliga and 11 appearances in the Westfalenliga II.
Now the move to the B-Kreisliga. “Since the club was founded, we have been looking for a left-footed player with top athleticism for our back three. When a player like that knocks on your door, you have to react immediately. We are happy to have signed Alessio shortly before the start of the second half of the season,” explains Westfalia coach Maurice Temme ahead of the second half of the season opener on Sunday (February 18, 3 p.m.) at Tamilstars Dortmund.
