SSV Jahn Regensburg have once again strengthened their offensive department and lured a new striker to Bavaria.
The 23-year-old Eric Hottmann most recently played for FC Energie Cottbus and signed a two-year contract with SSV Jahn Regensburg on Wednesday (9 August). He is to replace Joel Zwarts, who has left for TSV 1860 München.
“Despite his still young age, Eric already brings a certain amount of experience as a former youth international and third division player. With his offensive qualities and finishing power, he will be an asset to our offensive game. Eric is an absolute team player who is committed to his team. We want to work with him on his development potential and are pleased that Eric has chosen SSV,” said Achim Beierlorzer, managing director of sport at SSV Jahn.
Hottmann, who was born in Aalen, went through the youth department of VfB Stuttgart. From U16 to U19, Hottmann also played for the junior national team. In 2019, he was loaned out to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the 3rd division.
In the 2021/22 season, he signed with Türkgücü München. Hottmann then laced up his boots for FC Energie Cottbus, where he scored ten goals and set up seven others in 32 Regionalliga appearances last season. With Cottbus, Hottmann was defeated by Unterhaching in the promotion relegation to the 3rd League. On Matchday 1, the Spielvereinigung had fought their way to a point in Regensburg with a 1-1 draw.
“The talks with those responsible were positive right from the start, and the trusting and good exchange was ultimately decisive for the change. Here in Regensburg, I have the optimal conditions to be able to work professionally. Now I want to settle in well and be on the pitch as soon as possible. I’m really looking forward to playing at the Jahnstadion Regensburg for the first time,” says Hottmann about his commitment to SSV Jahn.
