Left-back in test – next RWE player to Oberhausen?

Rot-Weiß Oberhausen also wants to attack in the Regionalliga West. Another ex-RWE player could be coming soon.

In the last few days, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has been talking about Moritz Stoppelkamp. In the end, RWO was actually able to sign the veteran, an exclamation mark before the start of the Regionalliga West.

It almost went unnoticed that the cloverleaves have just welcomed another test player to their ranks. Michel Niemeyer, who played the first 45 minutes in the 15:0 win against Vorwärts Lette.

After Oguzhan Kefkir, Niemeyer could be the second player to switch from Rot-Weiss Essen to RWO in the summer. His two years in the RWE dress were not crowned with success.

Moved to Essen from Wehen, he was supposed to become the regular on the left side of defence. But several injuries put a spanner in Niemeyer’s works.

In his first year, he did not play in any competitive matches, but after promotion to the third division, he made six appearances. What he can achieve when he is fit, he proved in the time before he came to RWE. He played 76 times in League Three (nine goals). He also made 39 appearances for 1. FC Magdeburg in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Now he could make a new start in the regional league in Oberhausen. He also played for the team of coach Jörn Nowak, whom he also knows from his time in Essen, in the test against Ratingen 04/19.
