VfL Bochum have done their homework, so coach Thomas Letsch is in a positive mood ahead of the second half of the Bundesliga season.
VfL Bochum have beaten FC Groningen and Vitesse Arnhem. Ahead of next weekend’s Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen (Sunday, 3:30pm), VfL coach Thomas Letsch has drawn a conclusion.
Letsch about…
… the game against Arnhem: “It was a rather untypical game for us because we had more possession than usual as Arnhem played very deep. We did very well at the beginning, but then we lost the ball too easily. That gave our opponents a great chance. It was similar to Saturday. You could see that when the players got into their rhythm, things got better and better. It was important that we won the two test matches, against Arnhem with a clean sheet. That gives us a good feeling.”
… Match practice: “Which was also important. We played almost all the players for 90 minutes. But I also wanted to let Maxi Wittek play against his former club at the end and give Lennart Koerdt a treat on his 19th birthday.”
… his conclusion after the weekend: “There are always points of criticism, you can always look for the fly in the ointment. But in the end we did well, even if we could have scored more goals. In the end, I’m satisfied because we all know how our test matches have gone so far.”
… the preparation for Bremen: Regeneration on Monday, then the normal week begins. The impressions we have of the squad have been confirmed by the two test matches. I’m assuming that Niclas Thiede and Gonçalo Paciência will also be back by the weekend. I also hope that Ivan Ordets will return to training in the coming week. “
.. the scoreless streak of Philipp Hofmann, who could have scored at 2-0 if it hadn’t been for Keven Schlotterbeck: “Philipp would have nodded it in too, everyone would have given him that. But you could see that Philipp is in very good physical condition. He worked a lot. And let’s all take the pressure off his shoulders. We know what we have in him. “
