Letsch relieved after victory – “Now the talking stops”

The first win has a pleasant side effect for Thomas Letsch and VfL Bochum. It doesn’t even matter how it came about.

VfL Bochum had to wait a long time, but last Friday the time had finally come for Thomas Letsch’s team. They recorded their first win of the season in Darmstadt on matchday 10.

Naturally, this also had an effect on the mood in the team. “We all knew from the start that it would be similar to last season: a battle throughout the whole season. We’re right in the middle of it. Of course, it’s always the case when you’ve won a game that the atmosphere at the first training session is much more pleasant than when you’ve lost, explained Letsch.

The coach was also relieved that it was finally enough for the first three points – even if not everything went right. “We’ve had games where we’ve done quite well but haven’t managed to win. This time it wasn’t so tingly, but we won it. That was extremely important. In terms of the table, of course, but also for ourselves,” said a delighted Letsch.

“In the end, it doesn’t matter how”

“We made the mistake of giving the ball away far too often. It was always different people and that never really settled the game,” analyzed the 55-year-old. “But in the end, it doesn’t matter how. It’s important to finally have these three points and this win on the credit side.”

The first win has a nice side effect for the coach. “Now we can stop talking about how we haven’t won a game yet. We have eight points, have only lost four games, that’s the positive. We still haven’t won enough, but it makes the situation a lot more pleasant than before the game.”

Letsch: …then everything fits.

After the positive experiences away from home, Bochum now need to get back on track at home. “Last year, we picked up our first away points in Augsburg just before Christmas. This year, we’ve scored twice away from home and picked up a three-pointer. That means we’ve taken a step forward and now we have to turn things around at home and win our home games. Then everything will fall into place.” The next chance to do so comes in the Bundesliga top match on Saturday (6.30 p.m.) against 1. FC Köln. with gp
