Wuppertaler SV has overcome its sporting crisis and is on the rise again. The reward also comes in a winter training camp.
After Wuppertaler SV’s 2:1 win against Fortuna Köln in front of over 8,000 spectators, WSV can dream of the 3rd division again.
After finishing third and second in the previous years, the Red & Blues are aiming for first place. Coach Hüzeyfe Dogan’s charges are currently five points behind league leaders 1. FC Bocholt.
This is also due to the fact that the Bergisch club did not win between September 9 and October 14, 2023. But that has now changed – the crisis has been overcome in the form of three three-pointers in a row.
“We’ve boxed ourselves out of it together. I also notice at every training session that there’s a completely different mood again. We now have to continue on this path together,” praises sporting director Gaetano Manno.
The Wuppertal team naturally want to close the gap to first place before the winter break. The Red & Blues have the chance to do so in the games in Ahlen, against Bocholt, in Düren, against Aachen and at the second team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach. Manno emphasizes: “We continue to look from game to game. Anything else is pointless. If we don’t win in Ahlen, we won’t have a top game against Bocholt either!”
Wuppertaler SV: Training camp in Turkey booked
After the winter vacation, the WSV team can look forward to a trip to the warm south. Wuppertaler SV will start training on January 3, 2024. The team will be traveling to Turkey from January 14 to 21. The team will prepare for the rest of the season, which begins on the first weekend in February, at the Hotel Sueno Deluxe Belek.
“We will have perfect conditions on site. Last winter, for example, Champions League participants Red Star Belgrade prepared at this hotel. Our thanks go to Friedhelm Runge for making this training camp possible for the team and the entire staff. Without his financial help, it would not have been possible to book this trip,” emphasizes Gaetano Manno.
