There was a trophy for Anthony Losilla during the week, and on Sunday he wants to repeat the 2022 miracle against FC Bayern. This is what the captain of VfL Bochum says before the Bayern hit.
The users of Forecasting had voted. Anthony Losilla was named Revier footballer of the year 2023. During the week, the long-standing member of the VfL midfield received the trophy.
Losilla felt honored, after all, over 17,000 people voted. But it won’t be the only highlight for Losilla and VfL Bochum, because on Sunday (5:30 p.m.) FC Bayern Munich is coming to the Ruhr Stadium.
And they’re not at full strength, because Munich are not used to losing two competitive games in a row. They were recently beaten 3-0 by Bayer Leverkusen and 1-0 by Lazio Rome.
Losilla on the 90 minutes against the record champions: “The fans are sure to be really excited, we know the fan friendship between the two camps. I’m also happy for the players, these are always great games when you get to play against such a team.”
The 0-7 defeat, which has happened more than once recently, is no longer on the minds of the Bochum players. Losilla: ”That’s in the past. I’ve also experienced positive moments, I was there for the 4-2 in 2022.”
A repeat performance would be the perfect signal to the competition in the Bundesliga basement. Because VfL did not reward its often good performances with enough points. That’s why the gap to the relegation spot (six points) is still manageable, something the VfL captain is also aware of: “We should have had more points. But we can’t change that, so the focus is on the upcoming matches. Bayern is a bonus game, we have nothing to lose, we are looking forward to the game and want to annoy Bayern.”
That’s how it is on paper, but on the pitch it’s a different matter. We will do everything we can to make it difficult for Bayern

Although you also have to expect that FCB will react. Usually something happened after weak games. Losilla: “We’re talking about Bayern Munich. They’re the best team in Germany in years. They know what they have to do to turn a situation like this around. We can’t think that we can beat them at their stadium.”
What did happen, though, was a 4-2 win in 2022, which Losilla still remembers well as a “very, very strong game. We showed then that we weren’t afraid, and Bayern didn’t have any answers to our game. We have to go into Sunday’s game with that mentality. Then we have to hope that Bayern doesn’t have a really good day. Because if you stay down to earth, you have to say that Bayern, with its budget and squad, is the big favorite when it performs at its best.”
