5th matchday in the Oberliga Westfalen. Sportfreunde Lotte turn around two arrears in the top duel. Schermbeck loses.
A feat of strength by Sportfreunde Lotte! The team of Fabian Lübbers turned around two arrears at the start of the 5th matchday of the Oberliga Niederrhein on Friday evening. In the top duel with 1. FC Gievenbeck, the final score was 3:2 (1:2).
The visitors took the lead through Elias Strotmann after a glaring goalkeeping error by Lotte keeper Michael Luyambula (25th). The answer came only two minutes later. Halil Can Dogan promptly equalised with a powerful shot (27th). Not even a turn of the clock later, the visitors took the lead again: Alexander Wiethölter, who was standing free, scored from about eleven metres to make it 2-1 from the point of view of 1. FC Gievenbeck (28).
Lotte, who actually dominated the game, only came back in the second half. After a corner by Fatlum Elezi, Marc Heider scored the 2:2 (53) – his fifth goal of the season. The home side then pressed for victory – and were rewarded. Elezi served again, this time a corner, and Johannes Sabah put the ball over the line (67th).
The late attacking efforts of 1. FC Gievenbeck remained unsuccessful. Sportfreunde Lotte are catching up and are now also on ten points, but thanks to their better goal difference, they could take the lead in the table.
SV Schermbeck – Türkspor Dortmund 2:3 (1:1)
Lotte only managed this, however, because SV Schermbeck suffered a 2:3 defeat at home against Türkspor Dortmund.
The home side took an early lead through Christian Löbler (12th). But the promoted team turned the game around. Nazzareno Ciccarelli (30) equalised before Ilias Anan (53) made it 2-1 for the visitors from Dortmund.
Even the 2:2 by Jan Bachmann (54th) one minute later did not throw Türkspor off track – Koray Dag made it 2:3 (57th) shortly afterwards – the final score.
Sportfreunde Siegen – ASC 09 Dortmund 1:2 (0:1)
ASC Dortmund closed the gap to the top with a 2-1 away win at Sportfreunde Siegen and now have ten points.
Maximilian Podehl (10th) and Marco Stiepermann (52nd) put the visitors on the winning track. Marvin Schulz (69th) was only able to reduce the deficit for Sportfreunde, who are still without three points.
