KFC Uerdingen provided a great spectacle on Saturday evening (23 September). The spectators in the Grotenburg saw seven goals.
Who would have thought that possible? SV Straelen leads 3:1 at KFC Uerdingen, but in the end the red and blue team rejoices. Coach and sporting director Marcus John’s team gave their fans a real spectacle in their 4:3 victory over Straelen.
KFC Uerdingen had set their sights high for the match against SV Straelen and started like fire: Just 42 seconds had passed before KFC had their first chance.
Pascal Weber was able to beat Daniel Brice Ndouop in the penalty area and crossed to the second post, Florian Abel rushed in from the back and slipped into the cross to somehow get to the ball. While lying down, Abel pushed the ball to the far right of the net.
And the opening phase was really something. One after the other. First, the visitors shocked KFC and took an early lead. The home side was caught out in a classic way.
Right-back Pepijn Schlösser sent a cross into the SVS box, which came back like a boomerang. Pedro Cejas was given too much space, was able to get his hands on the ball and beat Daniel Udegbe from close range – 1:0 Straelen in the 7th minute.
But the Krefelders answered promptly to the early goal. Straelen did not seem to have sorted themselves out yet, which Dimitrios Touratzidis immediately took advantage of. From an acute angle he hammered the ball into the top left corner to equalise – 1:1 (9th).
Seven minutes after the equaliser, a KFC defender threw himself into a Straelen shot at the last second and prevented the team from falling behind again. On the other side, Leon Schübel (18th) prevented Uerdingen from taking the lead through Touratzidis with a brilliant save. In the 26th minute, it was Schübel again who saved a shot by Fabio Simoes Ribeiro. A great Oberliga game developed.
But the Straelen team was more efficient in the end and made the 2000 KFC fans angry again. A throw-in from their own half resulted in a counter-attack situation via Tom Hirsch, who moved inside from the left wing and shot, Udegbe was able to parry but could not hold the ball – Luca Thissen thanked him, 2:1 Straelen (32.).
And just like after the 0:1 KFC wanted to answer promptly, but this time the Uerdinger missed the equaliser in person of Pascal Weber (34.).
After the restart, the visitors from the Dutch border got off to the better start – shock for KFC: Straelen corner by Thissen, header by Dacain Baraza – 3:1 (51.)!
Those who thought that KFC Uerdingen were finished and that Marcus John’s days at the Grotenburg were slowly numbered were proved wrong: The Blue-Red turned the game around and created a real madness in the Grotenburg.
Within ten minutes, Weber (69th), Justin Härtel (73rd) and Justin Klein (79th) turned the Grotenburg upside down. In the end, the Krefelders took home the victory and celebrated exuberantly with their frenetic fans.
