Major shortcomings, city stands by Osnabrück stadium, 14 players leave Hansa

While VfL Osnabrück fights for its location, Hansa Rostock has to readjust its squad in the 3rd division, and two former Bochum players are also leaving the relegated team.

The deficiencies at the stadium of second division relegated VfL Osnabrück were so great that even the home game against FC Schalke had to be canceled at the end of the season.

In the meantime, the city has committed itself to the traditional “Bremen Bridge”. There will therefore be no “patching up”. The city and the club are committed to the location and want to develop a viable plan for the future by fall 2024. This should enable the Osnabrück City Council to evaluate the strategy, implementation and financing concept and to vote on whether professional soccer in Osnabrück should continue to be possible at the Bremer Brücke site.

The VfL press release states: “The findings to date, for example regarding the immission control framework and a corresponding legal assessment, allow the conclusion to be drawn that a conversion of Bremer Brücke can be realized within the framework of the existing development plan. The city and the club are aiming to optimize the plans in terms of noise to protect the neighbourhood, with initial results showing that the current noise emission situation can be significantly improved through renovation.”

Hansa Rostock: 14 players leave

After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga, Hansa Rostock will undergo a major upheaval. The loan players Jonas David, Marko Johansson (both Hamburger SV), Juan Perea (VfB Stuttgart), Jasper van der Werff (SC Paderborn) and Junior Brumado (Midtjylland/Denmark) will return to their clubs as planned.

Dennis Dressel, Simon Rhein, John-Patrick Strauß, Konstantinos Stafylidis and Lukas Hinterseer will no longer play for F.C. Hansa due to expiring contracts. The same applies to Svante Ingelsson, Sebastian Vasiliadis and Sarpreet Singh, whose contracts are not valid for the 3rd division. This also applies to Janik Bachmann, who has already moved to FC Schalke 04.

Goalkeeper Max Hagemoser, on the other hand, has signed a new contract. F.C. Hansa is still in talks with all other players.

Together with Hagemoser, Elias Höftmann, Damian Roßbach, Nico Neidhart, Nils Fröling, Kevin Schumacher, Alexander Rossipal, Christian Kinsombi, Felix Ruschke, Joshua Krüger, Milosz Brzozowski and Sveinn Gudjohnsen are currently under contract for the third division squad for the coming season. Goalkeeper Markus Kolke, who also has a contract, has currently received an offer from Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen.
