After staying out of the relegation zone, TSG Sprockhövel once again had to make a major upheaval. Board member Andre Meister wants to avoid a relegation battle.
In preparation for the new season, TSG Sprockhövel has had mixed results. The lowest point was the 6-0 defeat against TSV Meerbusch. Board member Andre Meister does not bury his head in the sand: “It is not easy to classify the whole preparation. We had another huge upheaval in the team, the squad has been significantly rejuvenated. In such a phase, you have to test a lot, change a lot and make sure that all the players in this large squad are kept happy. So I think the coach can draw his conclusions from the preparation and we are at least moderately satisfied.”
With regard to the many newcomers, Meister takes the team to task for some initial difficulties: “With such a radical change, it’s a lengthy process. It can’t happen from one moment to the next. Slowly, the coordination between the players is getting better and better. We’re two weeks away from the start of the season, it’s all about running routes and fine-tuning now.” He added that new coach Yakup Göksu’s team will need a few more games to properly implement the routines and playing philosophy.
Keep in the league as top priority
After TSG’s turbulent changeover period, squad planning has already been completed. Nothing has changed in the team’s objective over the summer. “After this upheaval, the goal is clearly to stay in the league. That is quite clear for us. Anything beyond that is a bonus. We have such a young team, you have to give the boys time and see how they develop,” explains the TSG board member.
