Manno before the big game against MSV Duisburg – “Cracking 10,000”

On Sunday, Wuppertaler SV will play against the league leaders MSV Duisburg. WSV sports director Gaetano Manno is already excited.

On Friday afternoon, Wuppertal’s sports director Gaetano Manno watched the U23 game between FC Schalke 04 and SC Paderborn.

Manno took a deep breath before the clash against MSV Duisburg. Because then the venerable Stadion am Zoo in Wuppertal will finally be full again. The WSV has already sold a considerable number of tickets.

“As of Friday, we have already sold 7,000 tickets,” Manno told Forecasting. ”We hope that ticket sales at the box office will also go well and that we might break the 10,000 spectator mark again after a long time.”

Manno is not particularly concerned that the fans of the front-runners from Duisburg will probably be in the majority. “I hope that there will be 5,000 fans on each side. But I can also imagine that in the end there will be more MSV fans in the stadium than WSV supporters,” said Manno. “But we would accept that too, because it will simply be a great game and great advertising for the Regionalliga West.”

We know that Duisburg has the best squad in the Regionalliga and is a top team. But we will still approach the game with the aim of getting three points. I’m very confident.

And a fresh start under coach Sebastian Tyrala, in which the WSV can only surprise positively. Because the roles are clear: “I’m glad we could get Sebastian. He’s a positive guy, a people-catcher. He also has a clear plan,” Manno praised. ”We know that Duisburg has the best squad in the Regionalliga and is a top team. But we will still approach the game with the aim of getting the three points. I’m very confident.”

Tyrala himself is also full of energy, even though he is about to face one of the favorites for promotion: “He is the one who is most excited about it. He also has a score to settle with Duisburg, because he lost 0-5 to them with Türkspor,” said Manno.

For WSV, it’s about getting important points in the fight against relegation: “We have to look out for ourselves. We assume that four teams will be relegated and will do everything we can to ensure that we are above the line at the end.”

And maybe the atmosphere can create a sense of optimism in Wuppertal. Right? Manno: “First of all, it’s not about having 8,000 or 9,000 spectators in the stadium for every game. It’s about playing decent football and giving our all for the club. That’s the path we want to take. And if we end up with only 3,000, then that’s also great for the Regionalliga. That’s where we want to be.”
