Market value table – BVB II in first place, RWE in the bottom third

The new season has begun, the squads have new market values, but a lot will still change before August 30.

The new season officially starts on July 1. This also means that all additions and departures made so far will be included in the clubs’ new market values. The portal “transfermarkt.de” provides an overview, even if the values are of course estimates.

It will be interesting to see how the values develop between July 1 and the end of the transfer window on August 30. Some clubs are already almost finished with their plans, while others still have numerous vacancies.

As of July 1, BVB’s U23s have the highest squad value – a total of 11.28 million euros. However, this is also spread across 31 players. In contrast, Hansa Rostock and Rot-Weiss Essen, among others, currently only have 23 players in their squads.

There is still some catching up to do here, although trends are already clearly visible. Even if three or four players with a decent transfer value for the 3rd division are brought in, RWE are unlikely to finish higher than twelfth. RWE are currently in 15th place with a value of 4.7 million euros.

Behind RWE are five clubs (SC Verl, Viktoria Köln, Alemannia Aachen, Energie Cottbus and Hannover II), although they already have more players under contract.

Behind BVB at the top of the squad values are currently SV Wehen Wiesbaden, SV Sandhausen and VfL Osnabrück, all of whom have surely set their sights on promotion to the Bundesliga 2.

FC Ingolstadt, 1. FC Saarbrücken and Dynamo Dresden also want to have a say in the top three places. All of them are currently at roughly the same level in terms of budget.

One thing is clear: the 3rd division is still extremely far behind the level of last season. There, the value of all squads was 167.53 million euros in the end, currently at 121.63 million euros, which is also due to the fact that BVB II and Freiburg II came to a remarkable total of almost 45 million euros, which nevertheless did not save the Breisgau team from relegation
