New market values for VfL Bochum: The dispute between former goalkeeper Manuel Riemann and the club has drastic consequences, one player really rises.
The dispute between VfL Bochum and its released goalkeeper Manuel Riemann has consequences for the new market values of the Bundesliga’s bottom-placed team: because the club, which is threatened with relegation, and the former crowd favorite have more to do with each other in the labor court than on the soccer field.
Riemann is currently not allowed to participate in the team’s training sessions under coach Peter Zeidler, is instead keeping fit individually and is certainly not getting any game time. As a result, his market value has halved. In percentage terms, it is the biggest loss in VfL Bochum’s squad value: the transfermarkt.de portal has now updated the Bundesliga clubs, after the players were last valued in May after the end of the season with the relegation play-offs.
For ex-goalkeeper Manuel Riemann, his market value has fallen by half, from 600,000 euros to 300,000 euros. In percentage terms, this makes him the biggest loser in the VfL Bochum team, where two other players have also seen their value drop. Transfermarkt.de now values Erhan Masovic (25) at 4 million euros (previously 5 million euros) and Gerrit Holtmann (29) at 700,000 euros (previously 1 million euros).
Riemann has been exempt from professional training since mid-May, but has not been suspended. He is suing at the Bochum Labor Court to be allowed to participate in professional training again. VfL Bochum accuses him of “verbal and almost physical misconduct,” according to the unsuccessful conciliation hearing at the labor court on August 23.
Market values VfL Bochum: Four winners despite the weak start to the season
There are some curious stories on the side of those who were able to increase their market value. Bochum defender Bernardo is now valued at 7 million euros by transfermarkt.de, an increase of 1.5 million euros. However, the Brazilian has not yet played a Bundesliga game for VfL this season. The 29-year-old has been hampered by meniscus problems in his left knee for months.
Bernardo is one of four VfL Bochum players who have seen their market value increase despite a weak start to the Bundesliga season. Felix Passlack (26) jumped from €1.8 million to €2.5 million. The successor to Riemann in goal, Patrick Drewes, was set from 600,000 euros to 1 million euros. Midfield talent Mats Pannewig increased his market value from 125,000 euros to 600,000 euros.
