Midfield man to RWE? This is what the Eintracht sports director says

Eintracht Braunschweig picked up their first point of the season against Fortuna Düsseldorf (2:2). A midfielder who is on the list at Rot-Weiss Essen again did not make an appearance.

Five games and five nominations in the 20-man matchday squad: that is Danilo Wiebe’s unsatisfactory record so far at second-division club Eintracht Braunschweig.

The defensive midfielder is still tied to the Lower Saxons until 30 June 2024. According to information from RevierSport, the former Münster player is also on the list of Rot-Weiss Essen. On Sunday (21 August), RWE sources even said that Wiebe would be introduced at Hafenstraße at the beginning of the week. Last week, RS had reported on a possible engagement of Wiebe at the third-division club. But it seems that nothing will come of it.

No club has contacted us that wants to sign Danilo Wiebe. And: Danilo has also – as of today – not approached us to express a desire for a transfer.

Peter Vollmann

RevierSport asked Braunschweig on Monday morning. “There is no official offer from Rot-Weiss Essen. I also haven’t had a phone call with any Essen officials yet. That’s why I’m surprised by these reports about Danilo Wiebe,” said Peter Vollmann, managing director of sport at Eintracht.

When asked whether Wiebe will leave Eintracht at all by 1 September, Vollmann replied: “Once again, no club has contacted us that would like to sign Danilo Wiebe. And: Danilo has also – as of today – not approached us to express a desire for a transfer.”

In other words, RWE fans can probably cross Danilo Wiebe off the list of potential reinforcements for their team. It is quite possible that Wiebe will soon get his chance in Braunschweig. After all, Eintracht coach Michael Schiele is already under pressure after only one point and two goals scored in five league games.
