That’s it: On day eleven, the coach of DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard also got the boot: David Odonkor had to leave the Australian RTL jungle camp.
After a debate about scantily clad fellow campers, the RTL audience voted David Odonkor (39) as the first man to leave the jungle camp.
The ex-professional footballer received the fewest votes in the voting, announced the presenter duo of the show “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” on Tuesday night. “That’s the game,” explained the sportsman after the decision.
The 39-year-old also got himself into hot water with some of his fellow campers beforehand because he was upset about Leyla and Kim, who were often scantily clad (“This isn’t a dating app here. They can do this revealing stuff at home.”). Fellow campaigner Fabio clearly criticized the sexualization of women’s fashion: “Of course women are allowed to decide what they wear. What’s your problem? Are you afraid of cheating now?”
Before Odonkor’s departure, three women had been eliminated: “Germany’s Next Topmodel” contestant Anya Elsner (20) and fashion designer Sarah Kern (55) didn’t get enough votes, and former racing driver Cora Schumacher (47) left the camp voluntarily. Now eight C-list celebrities still have the chance to win the jungle crown next Sunday.
David Odonkor: From now on – full focus on Blau-Weiß Mintard
And Odonkor? He can now devote himself fully to his new coaching role at Mülheim regional league club DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard.
At the end of December, it was announced that the former World Cup 2006 participant would become coach in the 6th division in Mülheim. He told Forecasting at the time: “This is a very exciting task. I’m full of drive and want to develop the team further. I’ve seen the boys and there’s definitely a lot of potential there. First of all, we have to secure our place in the league. This national league is very tight and there are a lot of relegated teams. I’m looking forward to this challenge,” says Odonkor, who lives in Düsseldorf. “I’ll be in Mintard in half an hour. That suits me,” he added.”
Now he must first make the journey from Australia to his home in Düsseldorf and then, probably in the first week of February, lead the first training session in Mintard. wozi with dpa
