Mintard trainer Odonkor flies out of the jungle camp

That’s it: On day eleven, the trainer of DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard was also caught: David Odonkor had to leave the Australian RTL jungle camp.

After a debate about scantily clad fellow campers, the RTL audience voted David Odonkor (39) out of the jungle camp as the first man.

The former professional footballer received the fewest votes in the voting, the moderation duo of the show “I’m a celebrity – Get me out of here!” announced on Monday night. “That’s the game,” the athlete explained after the decision.

The 39-year-old had previously also alienated some of his fellow campers because he was annoyed by the often scantily clad Leyla and Kim (“This isn’t a dating app. You’re welcome to do this kind of revealing thing at home.”). Fellow contestant Fabio was critical of the sexualization of women’s fashion: “Women are of course allowed to decide what they wear. What’s your problem? Are you now afraid that you’ll cheat?”

Before Odonkor’s departure, three women had been eliminated: “Germany’s Next Topmodel” candidate Anya Elsner (20) and fashion designer Sarah Kern (55) received too few votes from viewers, and former racing driver Cora Schumacher (47) left the camp voluntarily. Now, eight C-list celebrities still have the chance to be crowned the jungle king next Sunday.

David Odonkor: From now on – full focus on Blau-Weiß Mintard

And Odonkor? He can now fully devote himself to his new coaching role with the Mülheim Landesliga club DJK Blau-Weiß Mintard.

At the end of December, it was announced that the former 2006 World Cup participant would be coaching in the 6th division in Mülheim. At the time, he said to Forecasting: “This is a very appealing task. I am full of energy and want to develop the team further. I have seen the boys and there is definitely a lot of potential lying dormant. First of all, we have to ensure that we stay in the league. Because this Landesliga (sixth tier) is very tight and there are many relegations. I’m looking forward to this challenge,” says Odonkor, who lives in Düsseldorf. ‘I’ll be in Mintard in half an hour. That’s fine,’ he added.

Now he first has to make his way from Australia to his home in Düsseldorf and then, probably in the first week of February, lead the first training session in Mintard. wozi with dpa
