He was already on site for the first test, but before Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer is introduced in Essen on Monday, there were a few parting words in the direction of 1860 Munich.
Following the departure of Marcus Uhlig on May 31, 2024, third-division club Rot-Weiss Essen was without a chairman for a month. Things will be different again on Monday (July 1).
Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer will then take up his new position at RWE and will form the Executive Board with Alexander Rang. There will also be a round of introductions on Monday, in which Pfeifer will present himself for the first time as the official RWE boss. RS will of course be there.
Pfeifer has recently cultivated more intensive contacts with Essen, for example he was present at the first test against SG Essen-Schönebeck and was also spotted at a European Championship match in Dortmund with Essen’s supervisory board member Waldemar Wrobel.
Before officially starting in Essen, the 43-year-old bid farewell to his previous employer TSV 1860 Munich via the social network LinkedIn. There he wrote: “After an intensive three and a half years as managing director at TSV 1860 Munich, my contract ends today. This phase of my life has been a journey full of emotional experiences and challenges, which I was able to experience with a great team and passionate Löwen fans. It has been a particularly complex and demanding task, for which I have received a lot of positive encouragement and criticism. Regardless of this, the thrilling matches remain unforgettable for me, especially when we were in the promotion race and the emotional support of the loyal fans. In any case, it was a very instructive and intensive time!”
Now it’s off from one traditional club to the next. A challenging task also awaits the 43-year-old in Essen. His outlook: “Now I’m really looking forward to my new challenge as CEO at Rot-Weiss Essen. I’m looking forward to the tasks ahead with great anticipation, I want to contribute my experience and I’m looking forward to the shared experiences that await us. “
