Most recently active in Spain – Wuppertaler SV signs midfielder

Wuppertaler SV has once again expanded its squad. A midfielder has signed.

On Thursday (October 9, 2025), Wuppertaler Sportverein announced the signing of Chesron Oostwoud.

The 21-year-old central midfielder from the Netherlands has already been training with coach Sebastian Tyrala’s team in recent weeks and has impressed the coaching staff with his ball control, precise passing, and excellent technique.

Oostwoud was trained at the renowned youth academies of Ajax Amsterdam and SC Heerenveen, giving him an excellent footballing education and high-level experience. He was most recently under contract with Spanish club Marbella FC. From the sunny island, he is now moving to the Bergisches Land region.

“With his versatility in central midfield and his ability to shape the game both defensively and offensively, Oostwoud is the perfect addition to the team,” says sporting director Gaetano Manno.

The WSV manager is delighted with the new signing: “He is a player with a great youth career. A central midfielder, very confident on the ball, with good passing skills and excellent technique. We have to give him time, as he hasn’t had any proper preparation. He wants to prove himself at WSV and sees this as an opportunity. I’m looking forward to working with him because he has so much potential.”

After a weak start to the season, Wuppertaler SV is picking up speed and recently celebrated two surprising victories—2-1 at Sportfreunde Lotte and 3-1 at 1. FC Bocholt. Previously, they had only managed two wins in nine games against bottom-of-the-table SSVg Velbert and SC Wiedenbrück.

WSV has 14 points after eleven games and is five points ahead of the first relegation spot. They are nine points behind the leaders, FC Schalke 04 II. On Saturday (October 18, 6 p.m.), WSV will continue with a home game against VfL Bochum II.
