National footballer Youssoufa Moukoko has relegated a media report about him to the realm of fables.
“Please don’t believe everything in the papers,” the 18-year-old wrote on Instagram, “I know it’s all part of the football business now, but even though I’m still young, I won’t be pressured in my decision about my future. I will never accept such a lie about me.”
The Bild newspaper had previously reported that the attacker was not satisfied with Borussia Dortmund’s latest, supposedly ultimate, offer to extend his contract. The offer is reportedly six million euros per year, but so far Moukoko has earned less than a third of that sum.
Moukoko, who made his debut for the German senior national team in November and was nominated for the World Cup in Qatar, only has a contract at BVB until the end of the season. From the turn of the year, he will also be allowed to negotiate with other clubs about a transfer on July 1 without a transfer fee.
“My full focus is on the second half of the season, and it’s all about the club Borussia Dortmund. No player is bigger than the club,” Moukoko further wrote: “It’s really sad that nowadays you can bring something like this to the world so you (fans) have a wrong image of me, really really sad because I’m still shocked by the report.”
Moukoko has been directly involved in 12 goals for BVB this season. He has been linked with FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC or Real Madrid, among others.
