As planned, MSV Duisburg has made further additions to its offensive line.
MSV Duisburg has once again strengthened its position in the 3rd division. Shortly before the end of the transfer window on 1 September, the Zebras signed Tim Köther from 1. FC Heidenheim.
Köther was loaned out until the end of the 2023/24 season. Köther, who was born in Aachen, played 53 regional league matches for Fortuna Düsseldorf and 1. FC Heidenheim, in addition to two second division matches for Fortuna, scoring seven goals and providing 14 assists.
Ralf Heskamp, MSV’s managing director for sport, emphasised: “Although Tim and 1. FC Heidenheim were extremely accommodating, it was a tough job to make a transfer possible at all. So it’s all the nicer that it worked out after all. It’s a situation that helps all sides: with Tim, we have a new alternative in the squad that we desperately need after the tough injuries, the boy will be able to show himself and develop in the games on the pitch, and 1. FC Heidenheim will also benefit.”
And MSV coach Torsten Ziegner is also pleased about the new man for the offensive: “With Tim, we were able to react to the serious injuries to Niki Kölle and Thommy Pledl shortly before the transfer deadline, thank God. He comes from Heidenheim, a team promoted to the Bundesliga, where he gained experience at a high level. A boy who fits us in terms of age, who can now help us and at the same time gain playing practice for himself. We are looking forward to the year together!”
What the player can only confirm: “I know the region and know what is expected of us on the pitch at a club like Spielverein. Hard, honest work and commitment – I’m happy to be able to contribute that here in Duisburg now. I want to get into the team as quickly as possible and then attack our goals together with our team and the fans.”
Additions: Santiago Castaneda (Tampa Bay Rowdies), Thomas Pledl (Waldhof Mannheim), Pascal Köpke (1. FC Nürnberg), Dennis Smarsch and Robin Müller (both FC St. Pauli), Alexander Esswein ( SV Sandhausen), Tim Köther (1. FC Heidenheim / loan)
