After the last positive results, MSV Duisburg has also added personnel. The striker they were looking for has been found.
Fifth place in the 3rd division and the new striker found. Things are going well at MSV Duisburg at the moment. On Wednesday, the Zebras announced that they had signed Benjamin Girth.
The attacker previously terminated his contract with second-division promoted Eintracht Braunschweig and was thus able to move to Duisburg free of charge. He initially signed a contract until the end of the season and emphasised after the completed transfer: “It’s great that it has now worked out with MSV. I’m looking forward to the team, the arena and of course the fans. I was particularly impressed by the game here against RWE in front of a sell-out crowd. I can’t wait to get started!”
The veteran is already expected to feature in the Zebras’ Niederrheinpokal match at Victoria Mennrath on Thursday (7:30pm).
Girth made 73 appearances in the 3. Liga, scoring 31 goals in that period. In 2016/17, he was the top scorer in the Regionalliga Nord with 20 goals for SV Meppen. Now he is expected to help MSV achieve its goals with his goals.
Ralf Heskamp, MSV’s managing director of sport, explains: “The transfer of Rudy Ndualu last week gave us the financial leeway to sign Benjamin for the next ten months. With him, we have been able to strengthen our offensive with the experience we were looking for: a striker who throws himself in everywhere, someone who is at home in the box – and above all, an attacker who will help us immediately. “
