While Rot-Weiss Essen and MSV Duisburg are starting the third division rest round this weekend, two talents from these clubs are showing themselves in Turkey.
An invitation to the national team is always something special: two talented players from MSV Duisburg and Rot-Weiss Essen have also been honored in recent days.
MSV U19 goal scorer Kaan Inanoglu and RWE U19 right back Berkant Gedikli were able to take part in a training course for the Turkish U19 national team in Antalya. During the week, the talented players from the Ruhr area showed their best side and earned high praise.
“Both have made a very good impression and will continue to be an integral part of the team for the European Championship,” said Soykan Basar, coach of the Turkish U19 national team, to Forecasting. The U19 European Championship in Croatia is on the agenda in March. Turkey’s U19 team is playing in a group against Germany, Croatia and Romania.
Gedikli, who played for 70 minutes, and Kaan Inanoglu, who played for 77 minutes, impressed in the friendly against Jordan’s U20 side on Friday (January 19). Inanoglu scored the final goal in the Turks’ 3-0 win.
Basar, who once coached current Turkey stars such as Arda Güler (Real Madrid) and Kenan Yilmaz (Juventus Turin) – both born in 2005 – in the junior national team, has a high opinion on MSV striker Inanoglu, who is still waiting to make his debut with the professionals.
Basar: “Kaan is a very mobile striker who has impressed us with his commitment, willpower and goal-scoring instinct throughout training and has also confirmed this with a very nice goal in the game against Jordan.”
Essen’s Gedikli showed a similarly strong performance during the week of the training camp. Basar: “Berkant has settled into the team really well, even though he’s only just joined it. We were also very impressed by him in training. He’s a very calm and clinical player who also likes to go deep and create chances.”
These words will be welcomed at Essen’s Hafenstraße, where Gedikli has yet to feature in a minute of the Bundesliga 3.
