Just a few days after parting ways with Ahmet Inal, Mülheimer FC 97 has found a new coach.
Mülheimer FC 97, the relegation-threatened Lower Rhine Oberliga club, has found a new head coach.
On Tuesday evening (November 7, 2023), the club presented Engin Tuncay as the successor to Ahmet Inal, who had resigned. Tuncay, who has worked in various positions for SG Wattenscheid 09 in recent years, will be supported by assistant coach Yasin Kalyoncu in the future.
“Today we are officially handing the team over to our coaching team, and the first training session will take place on Tuesday evening. We have paid particular attention to ensuring that the coaches identify directly with Mülheimer FC 97 and can work successfully in our environment. We are confident that this cooperation represents a respectful and trustworthy partnership for the future,” reported the MFC board in an official statement.
Around a week ago, promotion coach Inal resigned after a 4-2 win in the league against FC Büderich and two days later a 5-0 victory in a test match against Landesliga side VfB Speldorf, who had fielded supplementary and youth players. Forecasting reported.
MFC 97 “did not come to a common denominator” with Inal
“We sat down after the test match and clarified a few things. Both myself and the board made their opinions and dissatisfaction of the last few weeks known. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach a common denominator. A separation was the logical consequence,” Inal explained to Forecasting.
The 41-year-old added: “I just couldn’t be myself anymore. Nor was I anymore. I was talked into so much from various sides that I was simply amazed at what was happening. MFC knew which coach they were going to hire in January. Unfortunately, I had to get to know the club first. And I simply couldn’t identify with a lot of things over time. Nevertheless, I would like to thank those responsible for placing their trust in me and wish the club and, above all, the team all the best. “
