Muslic on Hannover and Dublin incidents: “Deeply ashamed”

Schalke 04 is facing Hannover 96 in a top match in the 2nd Bundesliga. Two contrasting approaches will clash.

On Friday (6:30 p.m.), FC Schalke will travel to Hannover 96. It’s a real top match, in which S04 will be looking to assert themselves against Hannover. Fifth place meets second place.

Schalke coach Miron Muslic is understandably excited, and at the press conference ahead of the 90 minutes, he spoke about the insights gained from the Dublin test and the upcoming task in Hannover.

Miron Muslic on…

… the personnel situation: “As of today, we have the entire squad together. The national team players have all returned on time and joined the team—everyone is fit. Bryan Lasme was not in Dublin and was also receiving individual training, as was Christian Gomis.”

… the test and the selection of players for the short trip to Dublin, where they lost 2-3 to Irish first division side Bohemians: “We decided to leave the core of the team in Gelsenkirchen and deliberately took many young players from the U19 and U23 teams with us. Several of the lads made a good to very good impression, but I won’t name names so as not to put too much pressure on them.“

… the incidents in Dublin, where two passers-by were attacked during a fan march before the game: ”We are trying to come to terms with what happened. I saw the pictures and was deeply ashamed.“

… the upcoming opponent Hannover 96: ”They are a top team in our league, an outstanding team, peppered with high individual quality. Very dominant in possession, clear processes. But we don’t have to hide from Hannover.“

… the fact that Schalke has so many different goal scorers: ”It makes us unpredictable that we have six or seven players who pose a threat.”

… the question of whether his approach fits with that of Hannover coach Christian Titz: “I hope so. He’s a coach with a clear style, which he has impressively demonstrated with Magdeburg in recent years. Now he’s continuing that with Hannover. A team that defines itself through possession. We are a team that defines itself through aggression, intensity, and structure against the ball.”
