The officials, players and fans of Germania Ratingen 04/19 will be looking towards Krefeld’s Grotenburg on Wednesday evening. This is where RSV’s semi-final opponent will be determined.
When KFC Uerdingen and Rot-Weiss Essen play out the last Lower Rhine Cup semi-finalist on Wednesday evening (March 6, 7 p.m., live ticker), Germania Ratingen 04/19 will also be looking eagerly towards the Grotenburg.
Because: The winner of the match between KFC and RWE will face Ratingen in the semi-finals. Moses Lamidi, striker for Germania, doesn’t really know who he would like to see more.
“That’s difficult. Let me put it this way: In my head, I think Essen will win 3:1. But my heart wants KFC to win because I had a great time there and enjoyed playing for Uerdingen. And then there’s the current situation: I’d love all our boys to play against a big club like Rot-Weiss Essen in the Lower Rhine Cup semi-final – preferably in front of over 10,000 fans in the stadium on Hafenstrasse. Then there’s the option of KFC progressing and us playing them at home. That would be a fifty-fifty duel and we would have a good chance of reaching the final. So you can see: I can’t really decide (laughs),” says Lamidi.
The 36-year-old former professional had to undergo surgery on his meniscus in December 2023 and has now returned to team training. That will also please RSV coach Martin Hasenpflug. Because Lamidi has been missing for the Ratingen team recently. And things didn’t go so well
One more year in the 4th division with Ratingen, then I could end my career satisfied
Moses Lamidi
“I think that some of the lads are slowly realizing that it’s all to play for and are feeling the pressure. After all, the club wants to go up and the city also wants to help with the infrastructural conditions for the regional league. Everything is actually in place, now we just have to step up our game. And that will be a matter of the head,” says Lamidi.
However, the former Borussia Mönchengladbach Bundesliga player is confident that Ratingen will win the race in the end. Lamidi, who runs a beauty salon with his wife, has been playing for Germania since the summer of 2018. If he has his way, he would also like to do so in the 2024/2025 season. Lamidi: “Then preferably in the Regionalliga. One more year in the 4th division with Ratingen, then I could end my career happily. “
