Neidhart club on to two second division players – midfielder with torn ligaments

SV Waldhof Mannheim seem to have found reinforcements in the 2nd Bundesliga.

As reported by the “Mannheimer Morgen”, SV Waldhof Mannheim are close to signing Luca Bolay.

The 20-year-old left-back is said to have convinced SVW coach Christian Neidhart in trial training. Bolay is still under contract with second division club Karlsruher SC until the end of the season. At KSC, he only played one minute against SV Darmstadt 98 (15 October 2022) during the current season.

Mannheimer Morgen” also reports that SV Waldhof has put out feelers for Eintracht Braunschweig’s Michael Schultz, who already played for SVW between 2016 and 2020. Schultz could replace Gerrit Gohlke in central defence. The latter will be out for a long time after shoulder surgery. There is talk of up to two months.

The 29-year-old Schultz made nine appearances – 549 minutes – in the 2nd Bundesliga and two matches – 713 minutes – in the DFB Cup this season.

Schultz has a wealth of experience: 18 Second Division games, 84 Third Division games and 118 matches in the Regionalliga are on the defender’s CV.

Most of his games, 115 in all, were for SV Waldhof Mannheim. Perhaps he will soon make further appearances in the jersey of the Mannheim club.

Bentley Baxter Bahn will not play any games for Mannheim for the time being. The Mannheim midfielder tore a ligament and will be out for weeks. The 30-year-old has made 20 appearances for SV Waldhof this season (four goals, two assists).
