New arrivals nine and ten – promoted team continues to upgrade

FC Büderich has already made its mark with the signings of Lukas van den Bergh and Kevin Weggen. Now the next new arrivals have followed.

After the Landesliga championship and the associated promotion to the Oberliga Niederrhein, FC Büderich has made further personnel changes. Two more players have joined the FCB.

First, the club announced the signing of central defender Tobias Schmidt-Kessen. The 21-year-old, who joined the club a few days ago, comes from Rather SV, last year’s league rivals. The tall defender comes from the youth of FC Mönchengladbach and also gained experience in the Landesliga with FC Wülfrath.

Another young player even comes directly from the Kreisliga B into the senior squad. Felix Dannenberg is taking the plunge into the Oberliga. The 19-year-old was most recently captain of the A Juniors at SG Kaarst and gained his first senior experience there with the first team, which achieved direct promotion back to the Kreisliga A by finishing second.

In his youth, he also played for Borussia Mönchengladbach (seven appearances in the B-Junioren-Niederrheinliga) and SG Unterrath (no appearances in the U17-Bundesliga West).

Two top transfers have already been made

FCB had already caused a stir with the signings of Kevin Weggen and Lukas van den Bergh. Weggen last played for KFC Uerdingen and has a total of 200 Oberliga games (33 goals, 38 assists) and 85 Regionalliga West games (eight goals, eight assists) on his CV. In addition, the 29-year-old defensive midfielder has made 15 appearances each in the Regionalliga Nord (one goal) and Nordost (one goal, two assists).

Right-back van den Bergh, meanwhile, made 256 appearances at Oberliga level (four goals, 14 assists) and 59 at Regionalliga level (three assists). Most recently, the 34-year-old was captain at TSV Meerbusch.

Added to this are the signings of Dennis Wegner, Jacobi Sami Jawad (both TVD Velbert), Christos Pappas (Holzheimer SG), Bünyamin Dogan (Rather SV), Moritz Holz (VfB Hilden II) and Florian Gnida (DJK Sparta Bilk).
