New attendance record on the horizon – RWE currently in fifth place in the attendance table

If there’s one thing the 3rd league can count on, it’s steadily growing attendance figures.

The 3rd league is booming like never before. Attendance figures are rising every year. New records are currently only held for one season at a time.

After the coronavirus pandemic, attendance figures in the 3rd league continued to rise steadily. While only two teams were able to boast five-digit average attendance figures at the end of the 2021/22 season, this number rose to six teams in the 2022/23 season.

In the last season, nine teams had an average five-digit attendance, and in the current season, eleven teams have an average five-digit attendance in November 2024.

This means that with the excitement in the league, both at the top and bottom, there will probably be another new attendance record. 1,456,208 million visitors have been counted so far. Dynamo Dresden has been the leader in the attendance rankings for three years.

While Rot-Weiss Essen was second in attendance in the promotion season, they were overtaken by Arminia Bielefeld in 2023/24. In the current season, RWE is in fifth place behind Dresden, Bielefeld, Alemannia Aachen, and Hansa Rostock with a strong average of 16,987 spectators. SC Verl is currently at the bottom of the attendance table with 2,082 visitors per game.
