New coach at Firtinaspor – “Club is planning something big”

Firtinaspor Herne has introduced a new coach. The coach last worked in the U19 Lower Rhine League.

Ayhan Kirlangic has found a new coaching job again. Just a few weeks ago, Kirlangic resigned from his position as U19 coach of the Dostlukspor Bottrop Lower Rhine League team.

He had taken over the A-youth team from Bottrop with the aim of promoting them to the Junior Bundesliga. But the reality was: relegation. He later fell out with the Dostlukspor board and threw in the towel.

Now Kirlangic has been unveiled as the new head coach of district league club Firtinaspor Herne. “First of all, I was overjoyed that I had a lot of inquiries from many clubs after my resignation. I would like to thank them for that. I’ve always wanted to work in the men’s game in Germany and I think I’m ready to work in this area too. I’m very happy about it and I’m looking forward to the task of working as a coach at such a great club,” the new coach of the 13th-placed team in the Westphalia 9th division told the “Fupa” portal.

Kirlangic already proved that he likes to talk big with his announcement of the Junior Bundesliga at Dostlukspor Bottrop. Now he is already talking about the Westfalenliga – even though Firtinaspor Herne are currently in the relegation battle in the Bezirksliga

But the club is planning something big and ultimately wants to climb up to the Westfalenliga with me as coach. I love something like that, a plan that is long-term, but also has the goal of reaching higher.

Kirlangic on “Fupa”: “There’s a very young sporting director who is still playing himself and approached me. He knew exactly what he was telling me. Tayfun Kacar is not just any person, he is Firtinaspor Herne, who has done a lot for this great club for years as a player and in the background. And he really convinced me of where the club belongs and where it wants to go. Of course, my first job as coach should be to save the team from relegation, that’s my number one priority and my job. But the club is planning something big and ultimately wants to climb up to the Westfalenliga with me as coach. I love something like that, a plan that is long-term, but also has the goal of reaching higher.”
