Shortly before the start of the new season, Alemannia Aachen has made a move on the transfer market. A new goalkeeper joins the regional league club.
Two days before the opening clash against Wuppertaler SV (Friday, 7:30 p.m.), regional league team Alemannia Aachen has once again strengthened its squad. With Radomir Novakovic, a new goalkeeper is moving to the Tivoli.
The 23-year-old was last between the posts for FC Schalke 04’s U23 team. Novakovic played 16 games for the Königsblauen in the Regionalliga West over the past year and a half.
The German heir comes from the junior team of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The keeper took his first steps in senior soccer at Dutch second-division club Roda Kerkrade, which maintains a fan friendship with Aachen.
“My years at Roda JC Kerkrade had a great impact on me and made Roda a club close to my heart. Accordingly, I didn’t have to think twice about signing with Alemannia, who have a deep friendship with Roda,” Novakovic said, explaining his move.
He also played for FK Indjija in Serbia and Agia Napa in Cyprus. In Aachen, the former Serbian youth international joins the goalkeeping team around Marcel Johnen and Jan Strauch.
“Radomir convinced us in terms of character and athleticism,” explained Aachen’s managing director Sascha Eller. “We’ve had our eye on him for some time and are now pleased to complete our goalkeeping trio with a keeper who is very strong on the line and has also gained quite a bit of experience with his stints in the second Dutch league as well as in the Regionalliga West.”
