KFC Uerdingen has a new home shirt. The color choice is causing frustration among many fans.
KFC Uerdingen kick off the 2024/2025 Regionalliga season with a home match against Sportfreunde Lotte on Saturday (2 p.m.). Just in time, the promoted team unveiled the home kit for the new season.
At first glance, the workwear from kit supplier Capelli looks pretty plain – the jersey is all red, while the shorts and socks are blue. But therein lies the problem.
“Uerdingen is BLUE and RED. In that order. I hope this mistake can still be corrected,” said one supporter on Facebook. Another user emphasized: “Whoever commissioned these things should ask themselves whether they are at the right club. BLUE RED!!! not red blue…”
In fact, the jersey colors at KFC Uerdingen are a topic with a history. In December 2016, the majority of Krefeld supporters even voted that the home shirts of their club must always be in the club colors blue and red (and not red and blue). The proposal was even incorporated into the club’s articles of association at the time
At the time, fan Daniel Staude justified his proposal as follows: “The club colors are one of the most important identification features and should always be present in the external presentation. In addition, it can be assumed that a jersey in the club colors will achieve far higher sales in fan merchandise sales.”
The club statutes currently available on the internet – in accordance with the resolution passed by the general meeting on January 12, 2023 – no longer mention the jersey colors. The club colors, on the other hand, are still firmly regulated. Paragraph 1 states: “The club bears the name Krefelder Fußball-Club Uerdingen 05 e. V., KFC Uerdingen 05 e . V. with its registered office in Krefeld. It is registered in the register of associations of the Krefeld district court, VR 1036.” And: “The club colors are the Uerdingen city colors blue red.”
On the transfer market at least, KFC Uerdingen was able to make positive headlines just before the start of the season. After Henri Euwi (left-back / SG Unterrath U19), another talented player, Dylan Pires, was signed on Friday. The 17th addition to the Krefeld squad
