On Friday evening, FC Schalke 04 hosted the preview of the RTL+ long-term documentary “Schalke 04 – Back to the We” in the Schalke Arena. The first two episodes were shown on the arena’s video cube. The six-part documentary will be available on the streaming service RTL+ from 15.9. All six episodes will be released simultaneously.
“It was clear relatively quickly that we wanted to try this. We didn’t want to show how Schalke 04 gets back up, but how we get back on our feet after the crash,” said Schalke’s sports director Peter Knäbel, explaining the intention. He had no reservations. “After all, we are in the Ruhr region. And if you work sensibly here, then you can also be filmed.” The pictures were not staged. “We said we would show ourselves as we are,” Knäbel reported.
Schalke 04 has thus set a new benchmark in the Bundesliga. “There is no better club and no better time to make this documentary as a contemporary witness document, because it really addresses everything that happened during that time,” Knäbel enthused. “You notice how people come together, how people stand up with each other, how they find each other and how this common documentary ‘Back to the We’ is created. “
