Despite his big ambitions, Salmin Rebronja, the new signing for Wuppertaler SV, has a special focus. His past also plays a role in this.
With a total of 19 new signings during the last transfer window, Wuppertaler SV has undergone a major squad overhaul. Salmin Rebronja is among the new WSV players. He has been in the starting lineup for all five Regionalliga West matches so far. This comes as no surprise, not only because of his experience from 47 Regionalliga matches. Coach Sebastian Tyrala also knew what to expect from this signing.“I personally feel very comfortable in Wuppertal and have been made to feel very welcome,” says Rebronja about his early days at WSV. “The first few months have been great, especially in terms of the facilities, with a sauna, a whirlpool, and a cold pool. It’s the perfect place to recover.” His expectations regarding the sporting conditions have also been met: “I know the coach very well, I know what his playing philosophy is and I know how he works. So far, everything has been confirmed. Training is fun and I’m learning a lot.”
The reason he knows the coach so well is that Rebronja and Tyrala already worked together at Türkspor Dortmund last season. This was not the only reason, but it was a major factor in Rebronja’s decision to move to Wuppertal. “The fact that I know the coach well was actually the deciding factor in my move to Wuppertaler SV,” says Rebronja, adding: “The fact that Wuppertal is a traditional club was also a huge factor. They have a huge fan base and a strong foundation behind them. It’s just exciting to work with the team there and develop.”
Third regional league stop for Salmin Rebronja
In addition to Türkspor Dortmund, Rebronja also played for SV Lippstadt 08 in the regional league. He fondly remembers the time when he still played against WSV. “Back when I was still playing for Lippstadt, I always looked forward to playing against Wuppertal. But when you have the chance to play for such a big, traditional club, you don’t say no.”
The 21-year-old received his soccer training in the youth teams of FC Iserlohn and later at SC Paderborn. With 47 regional league appearances at such a young age, his ambitions are far-reaching.
However, Rebronja has been relegated from the regional league with his clubs in each of the past two seasons. He therefore subordinates his own goals to those of Wuppertaler SV. “Right now, I’m fully focused on Wuppertal and the team’s task. I’m putting my own goals below the team’s goals at the moment,” says Rebronja.
The reasons for this attitude are clear to him: “I want to be successful with Wuppertaler SV, celebrate victories and perform well there.” Rebronja and his team will have their next opportunity to do so in the away game against the U21s of 1. FC Köln on Monday, September 1, at 7 p.m. (RS ticker).
