If the 3rd division can rely on one thing, it’s on the steadily growing number of spectators.
The 3rd division is booming like never before. Attendance figures increase every year. Currently, new records only last for one season.
After the Corona pandemic, attendance figures in the 3rd division continued to rise steadily. While in the 2021/22 season only two teams were able to end up with a five-figure average attendance, in the 2022/23 season this figure had already risen to six teams.
Last season, nine teams were able to attract a five-figure audience, and in the current series, eleven teams will have five-figure audiences on average in November 2024.
This means that with the excitement in the league, both at the top and bottom, there will probably be a new attendance record again. 1,456,208 million visitors have been counted so far. Dynamo Dresden has been top of the attendance ranking for three years.
In the 2022/23 season, Arminia Bielefeld overtook Red-White Essen, who had come second in the attendance rankings in the previous season. In the current series, RWE is in fifth place behind Dresden, Bielefeld, Alemannia Aachen and Hansa Rostock with a strong average of 16,987 spectators. At the bottom of the spectator table is currently SC Verl with 2082 visitors per game.
