SC Westfalia Herne is gearing up for the 2024/2025 Westfalenliga season and has unveiled its next additions.
Marcus Piossek (Head of Sport) and Christian Knappmann (Coach) of SC Westfalia Herne have already unveiled a number of new additions. However, the 2024/2025 Westfalenliga squad of the regional league champions is not yet complete.
Ahmet Ardic, a talented player from Wuppertaler SV, is coming to Herne. Ardic, who can play in midfield, made 14 appearances for Wuppertal’s U19 Bundesliga team last season. “Ahmet is a really good gambler. He’s nowhere near the end of his development. We’re delighted that he wants to work with us from now on,” says Knappmann.
In the person of Moritz Brüggemann, an old acquaintance is returning to Strünkede Castle. The 20-year-old central defender returns to Westfalia from TuS Bövinghausen in the Oberliga Westfalen.
“Moritz and I have known each other for a long time. I don’t need to say much about him. He’s a great player and a great person. Now he’s back home. We are delighted that Moritz is back,” emphasized Knappmann.
Brüggemann played with Piossek and Al-Hazaimeh in Bövinghausen
Last season, Brüggemann played together with sporting director Piossek and Jeron Al-Hazaimeh at Oberliga club TuS Bövinghausen. From July 1, the trio will continue together in Herne.
Knappmann’s squad for the 2024/2025 season will comprise 20 outfield players and two goalkeepers. With Kaan Coskun (SV Sodingen), Daniel Dudek (SG Wattenscheid 09), Moritz Brüggemann (TuS Bövinghausen), Ahmet Ardic (Wuppertaler SV U19), Bernard Gllogjani, Dominik Lepinski (both TuS Hannibal) and Andriy Dobrovolskyi (own U19), Westfalia Herne have already been able to present seven new players for the coming season.
Ex-professional Knappmann has returned to Herne to bring Westfalia back to where it once was. To the Oberliga Westfalen. Knappmann: “We have a two-year plan for the Westfalenliga. But of course: I’d be lying if I said we didn’t want to play at the top in the first year. We don’t have to get promoted, but we want to try. “
