Only 13 match days have been played in the Regionalliga West, and there have already been several coach dismissals. The next dismissal is imminent.
What do Regionalliga West representatives 1. FC Bocholt, Eintracht Hohkeppel, Türkspor Dortmund, Wuppertaler SV, and SC Wiedenbrück have in common in the 2024/2025 season? That’s right. These five clubs have already parted ways with their coaches. New coaches are still being sought in Wuppertal and Wiedenbrück.
According to forecasts, Türkspor Dortmund will be looking for its third coach for the current season as of Tuesday evening.
The days of Yakup Göksu, successor to promotion coach Sebastian Tyrala, are numbered after only five games and defeats – 3-7 against Paderborn II, 0-7 against Düsseldorf II, 0-2 against Fortuna Cologne, 2-4 against SC Wiedenbrück, and 2-4 against SV Rödinghausen.
“There will be another meeting on Tuesday evening. Then we can certainly talk in more detail on the phone. I don’t want to say too much right now. But I know how the business works,” Göksu told this editorial team on Monday evening (October 28).
He added: “We played really well last Saturday in Rödinghausen, losing 2-4. But at the end of the day, it’s a results-based sport and the result speaks for itself. We’re simply making too many individual mistakes. At some point, it’s no longer a coincidence, but a question of quality.”
Twelve games, one win, two draws, nine defeats, and 14:42 goals: a disastrous record for the newly promoted Dortmund team, which is playing in the fourth division for the first time in its history. Only a sporting miracle could save them from another season in the Regionalliga, in 2025/2026. Or perhaps a third coach after Tyrala and Göksu.
The question remains: who could lift Türkspor Dortmund, currently seven points adrift of safety, out of the basement? The Türkspor management will have to answer that question in the coming days. Next weekend – Saturday, November 2, 2 p.m. – 1. FC Bocholt awaits Türkspor Dortmund.
